Our position on racism, and how to report it
Effective date: August 15th, 2026
Surplus-GY is committed to a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment in Guyana and beyond, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. This policy sets out our position on racism and what we do about it.
This policy applies to everyone who takes part in Surplus-GY: our employees, our customers, the vendors who sell on our marketplace, our delivery partners and anyone else acting on our behalf.
It covers conduct on our website and apps, in our messaging tools, in product listings and reviews, and in any dealing that arises from using Surplus-GY, including at the point of delivery.
If you are a customer, vendor or delivery partner
Report it to us at customerservice@surplusgy.com, or through the contact details at the end of this policy. Tell us what happened, and include an order number, a listing link or a shop name where you have one, so that we can identify who was involved.
If you are an employee
Report it to the Human Resources Department, or to any member of the management team if that is not appropriate in the circumstances.
You can report an incident that happened to you, or one you witnessed.
We investigate every report. Depending on what we find, we may:
We aim to acknowledge a report within 2 working days and to tell you the outcome once the investigation is complete.
Nobody will be penalised for making a report in good faith. Retaliation against someone who reports an incident, or who takes part in an investigation, is itself a breach of this policy and will be dealt with in the same way.
We provide training on anti-racism and cultural awareness to our employees, and we review this policy regularly to make sure it continues to reflect how we operate.
