The Engine Water Pump is at the heart of the cooling system, circulating coolant through the engine block, radiator, and hoses to dissipate heat efficiently. A properly functioning water pump ensures the longevity of your engine by preventing overheating, which can cause severe damage.
The Water Pump works via a simple yet effective mechanism. It is usually driven by a serpentine belt from the crankshaft or timing belt/chain, which turns an impeller inside the pump's housing. This impeller rotates, drawing coolant from the radiator and pushing it into the engine's passages. The coolant absorbs heat from the engine and then returns to the radiator to be cooled by airflow, completing the cycle.
