Thermostat Housing: The black plastic body that holds the thermostat. Modern designs use high-strength plastic to reduce weight, though they are prone to cracking over time due to heat cycles.
Integrated Thermostat: Located inside the rounded sections, it regulates the flow of coolant to the radiator to maintain engine temperature.
Coolant Temperature Sensor: The grey electrical connector at the top right monitors the liquid's temperature and sends data to the engine control unit (ECU).
Hose Inlets/Outlets: Multiple ports (the large tubular openings) connect the engine block to the radiator and the heater core.
Mounting Points: The metal-reinforced eyelets allow the unit to be bolted securely to the engine.
